”And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He (Jesus) was in the stern, asleep on a pillow, And they awoke Him and said to Him, 'Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing.' Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, 'Peace, be still!' And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, 'Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?'” Mark 5:37-40
Although this story happened over 2,000 years ago, it could have happened to you or I yesterday or be happening today. There is a great storm and the disciples are worried. They awake Jesus and asked Him if He cared if they were perishing. With a word, He calmed the seas and questioned them about their lack of faith. When the storms of your life come, do you question whether God is noticing and whether He cares to do something about your situation. Yes, it is in the storms of life that we must have faith that God is there, is aware and is ready to move on our behalf.
Heavenly Father, I thank you that you are always there in the storms of our lives. I thank you that you care about our problems and situations – whether big or small. I pray that you will increase our faith to believe in your faithfulness. I pray that you will give us power over our fears. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
